All-Star Week

The ballots are in, the line-up is set…and the winners are…

Creamy Shrimp Pasta and French-Onion Baked Chicken?

Not the winners you were expecting?  Baseball’s All-Star game may be next week, but this week it is e-mealz all-star week at our house.  Since e-mealz does a great job of rotating the menus -we’ve had only a couple of repeats in almost six months- I decided to let everyone pick their favorite e-mealz meal so far.  There was a lot of paper shuffling as family members looked through the stack of past menus and were reminded of early favorites.

Oh yeah, that was a good one, too!“, was heard several times.

There were also hushed discussions between certain members to maximize their options…

“You pick the chicken and I’ll make sure the shrimp is covered.” and “We already have mexican covered, make sure we have something with pasta.”

I was there to make sure no one tried to influence the voting 🙂

Some wavered until the very end.

In the end, this is the line-up that was chosen:

  • One Dish Nacho Bake
  • French-Onion Baked Chicken
  • 3-Cheese Ziti
  • Sante Fe Soup
  • Easy Gumbo
  • Taco Calzones
  • Creamy Shrimp Pasta
  • Bacon & Cheese Strata

There were some surprises as well as some shoo-ins. Definitely some home runs. And unlike America’s pastime, no strike outs 🙂

How about you? Have you tried e-mealz? What’s your favorite dish? If you don’t use e-mealz, do you have a “family favorite week” when you let them decide on the menu?

Kerri always longed for a life of adventure with the man of her dreams. What she never dreamed was that it would be with seven kids in tow! In between welcoming a new one into the world and preparing one to go out in it, she occasionally manages to string together a few complete sentences here.

  1. Oh YUM! Love the way you get us up to bat on meal planning and picking the best ones!!

    • You’re so funny! After I posted I thought of a bunch more baseball related sayings. I can’t believe I didn’t think to use something about stepping up to the plate 🙂

  2. Kerri,

I’ve been planning on trying e-mealz and you may have just convinced me! If this works for your crew of 7 children, then perhaps it will work for my crew of 5 children (including my nephew who lives with our family). I love the fact that it requires very little “thought” from me! That’s the best part … not to mention the ease grocery shopping!

I LOVE it that I don’t have to come up with a menu each week. It has also allowed us to try things we might not have normally picked and if there’s something I know the won’t eat, I just substitute a family favorite. And you’re right about the shopping being easier…love that it comes with the grocery list.
Let me know if you try it and what you think!

  3. Thanks for sharing. I need to try e-mealz! The meals your family chose sound delish!
